Cellular Communicators
Cellular communicators convert the output from older alarm systems into a modern IP format and transmit it over a cellular network.
As they are powered by the alarm system they will continue to operate during a power cut.
Because they are not dependant upon the fibre connection, destruction of the premises fibre box will not prevent them from operating.
I recommend cellular communicator be used whenever possible.
You should expect to pay around $250 plus GST for one.
LAN or WiFi Communicators
Similar to the Cellular communicators, these devices convert the output from older alarm systems into a modern IP format compatible with cellular and fibre services but use the client's internet in place of a dedicated cellular service to transmit the information.
Cheaper but less secure than the cellular option. We do monitor them but do not recommend them.
You should expect to pay around $200 plus GST for one.
Used Communicators
From time to time we do have used communicators on hand.
We rent these for $10.00 per month plus GST.
A rental communicator option may be a quick fix when faced with the dreaded 'we are converting your phone to last mile copper' letter from you telephone provider.
Last mile copper is still a fibre telephone connection. Most older alarm systems will not work reliably over fibre unless they are fitted with a WiFi communicator.
